We took economy and I can say the seats are bigger and leg room is roomier than any other economy class I have taken from major airlines like Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways etc. Of course the ticket price is a bit more expensive to have a direct flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.
We purchased our tickets a month a head and the price went up and up. USD 800 dollars one way for adult and around USD 500 for kids under 12.
At LAX Cathay check in counter, the counter guy made us check in one of our on board carry on and said that the rule is carry on has to be under 7 kg!?! I never read anything under their guideline other than 23 kg per luggages and 2 per person so we could have 8. We checked in 3 luggages 29 inches which are considered xl and 3 at 25 inches, one small and a car seat. He did not charge us for the 13 kg carry on and said I will let it go cause you didn't know. Obviously we didn't know because it was never in their rule book!
But I am glad hubby got the luggage scale made by EatSmart, we kept everything under 23 kg with that handy device.
